Description
Greenwoods is Amsterdam’s first English breakfast, lunch and tea room and was founded in 1988. It is one of our favourite brunch or lunch spots in town! Greenwoods stands for a pleasant informal service, delicious English food – including full English breakfast, cakes, scones and muffins. And of course for a great selection of teas or coffee. Most of the ingredients and products are of organic origin. Since 2012, Greenwoods also has a tea room and restaurant on the Keizersgracht.
Delicious lunch in a pleasant atmosphere
The original tea room on Singel 103 is not very big. Together with being very popular, it is difficult to get a table sometimes. In Summer – or when the weather permits – they also have a few tables outside, so more people can enjoy the delicious food and pleasant atmosphere. The tea room and restaurant on Keizersgracht is slightly bigger. They have two floors, but the second floor only has about three tables; here is also where the kitchen is located. The atmosphere is similar to the one on Singel, although upstairs the interior looks a bit more modern. In Summer they have a relatively large terrace right on the edge of the water.
Greenwoods also provides picnic packages on request. Ideal for a beautiful day where you want to spend every bit of time in a park or on a boat. The picnic packages are all made fresh on the day and contain anything you like.
Note that both locations are incredibly popular, so expect to wait for about 15-20 minutes when you visit them around lunch time.
How green is Greenwoods?
Greenwoods serves locally sourced organic eggs and they use organic and locally sourced ingredients where possible. On the menu they mention a few times when the meat is organic, but not with all the meat. We’ll still have to check with them, what’s the story here.
Unfortunately we do not have any information (yet) regarding how sustainably Greenwoods is run.
