Love film? Love dance? Then Cinedans – Dance on Screen Festival is something for you! This unique festival has a central focus on dance films as well as adaptations of dance performances. It shows how logical and natural the fusion of the two media, dance and cinematography really is. There are some beautiful films where the main story is told by dance and interesting films and documentaries that tell a story about dance. The films vary in length from one minute to more than an hour.
The exploration of dance and film
During the festival, dance is not just explored via cinematographic means. It also explores the medium through retrospectives, interactive installations, readings, debates and workshops for professionals and other interested parties. Making it a very interesting and educational festival for a wide type of audience.
Hosted by EYE Film Institute
The backdrop for Cinedans is the beautiful, modern building of Eye Film Institute in Amsterdam North. There is a free ferry service from Amsterdam Central station to EYE, it runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Take the ferry that says ‘Buiksloterweg’ (less than 3 minutes). When you step off turn left and on foot you will be at EYE in less than 3 minutes.
