Pllek (Pllaces – yes double “ll”) is a cafe, restaurant and city beach in one. If I would tell you that Pllek is a bar located in a few converted shipping containers on an industrial area – the old shipping yard NDSM werf (wharf) – it would not sound appealing, would it?. Not to me at least. But Pllek is a groovy place along the north shore of the river IJ and is a great place to hang out. Especially in summer.
Pllek is open all year round, seven days a week. They ARE located in converted shipping containers, but they did a great job and they’ve been able to create a laid back, welcoming atmosphere for all who enjoy life. They have an extensive agenda with daily programmes. From relaxing yoga to pumping DJ’s, laid back live music and outdoor movie screenings on Tuesdays; in summer and when the weather permits. One of the biggest parties organised by Pllek is their Midsummer Night dinner and party. Every year a happening. What’s also pure bliss is a nice summer’s day on the city beach in front of Pllek, with a cold beer in your hand, overlooking the river IJ towards Amsterdam Central Station.
Restaurant Pllek offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a seasonal menu, mostly from organic and local produce. They only serve organic meat and sustainably caught fish
A no-nonsense cafe-restaurant with a passion for a conscious lifestyle
As said, Pllek only works with sustainably caught fish, veggies of the season and organic meat. Where possible they buy locally produced products. They are – in their own words – open-minded, free, connected, warm and creative and with a strong focus on a conscious lifestyle and sustainability.
