Steigenberger Airport Hotel Amsterdam (previously the Dorint Hotel) is a 4-star hotel at Schiphol Airport. The Steigenberger Hotel has 440 hotel rooms and 11 suites and also offers certified green and Fair Trade rooms, for environmentally conscious guests. I think the style and atmosphere of the hotel is debatable – read: it’s not my taste – but it is functional, clean and the service is very professional and friendly. And not in the last place because of the location, which is perfect if you need to be at the airport at an impossible time!

The Steigenberger Airport Hotel Amsterdam offers four different room categories and a choice of three suites. The style of the rooms is functional and will appeal to the business traveller. They also have a whole floor with certified Green and Fair Trade rooms, for guests who value a conscious lifestyle. There are two restaurants and two bars in the hotel. Restaurant Trattoria offering creative Italian Cuisine, Restaurant Patio, offering international food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then there is the Sports & Media Bar and the Coffee & Wine Lounge. The Spa offers a reasonably sized indoor swimming pool, steam bath, sauna, fitness, solarium, Sanarium and a relaxation area, including outdoor lounge beds.

The airport is only 10 minutes away from the hotel. The free shuttle bus of the hotel drives every 30 minutes to and from Schiphol Plaza.

A Green Key Gold certificate, but no concrete info

Steigenberger Airport Hotel Amsterdam were given a Green Key Gold certificate – meaning they apply to 27 mandatory sustainable criteria and at least 29 out of 55 optional criteria. We kept our ratings low because there is very few information available what they really are worth, in terms of sustainability, Fair Trade and the use of organic meat and food. Even though they have an eco-friendly floor.
